Knox County Court Bonds
These two documents (signed by William Blount) compel William McNamee, Thomas McGilton, and Samuel Hindman to appear at the session of the Knox County Court to be held on July 14, 1799. All three men were apparently summoned to serve on juries.
Nancy Miller Deposition
Nancy Miller gave this deposition to Charles McClung, Court Clerk of Knox County, as part of a lawsuit between Judith Miller (plaintiff) and John Smith (defendant). In it, Nancy Miller testifies that in 1798 Zachary Cox told her to get the money that he owed her from his store and that he would tell John Smith to let her have what she asked. The case was heard before the Knox County Superior Court on April 2, 1800, and Judith Miller was awarded $77.39, including $0.16 in court costs.
David Henley Letter to Richard Harrison
In this letter, David Henley reports that he has "forwarded Crozier and King's accounts for sundry articles of merchandize furnished for the Indian and Quarter Masters Departments and for the use of my office from April to December 1798." In all, the men are owed $451.99, which may be paid to their attorney, Samuel Meeker.
James Scott Petition
In this petition to the Knox County Court, James Scott explains how he came to be in debt to Douglas Olliver, declares that he has attempted to repay this obligation, and accuses Olliver of refusing to accept his payment in order to extract a larger settlement. Scott asks that the relevant paperwork be collected and examined at the court's next session so that right may be done. The document is also signed by the court's clerk, Charles McClung.
John Hillsman Tax Receipt
This tax receipt notes John Hillsman's return of 68,200 acres of land in Grainger County, Tenn., as payment for taxes for the year 1799.
Military College Contingencies Account Book

Grainger County (Tenn.) Courts Trial Docket
This collection contains original court documents from Grainger County, Tennessee, for the February 1800 term. The item is eleven pages long and documents the names and case numbers of Grainger County trials.
Joseph C. Strong Journals
The first of the journals in this collection recounts Joseph C. Strong's service in the U. S. Navy aboard the warship Trumbull as it escorted other ships from London to the Caribbean in 1800 and 1801. The second larger journal tells of Strong's activities in and around Knoxville in 1816 as he helped to establish a Bible Society. Both of these journals are typewritten copies of the originals.

This collection contains unidentified receipts from between 1800 and 1915, though some are undated. Most of the receipts do not include locations, but some indicate that they are from various cities and counties throughout Tennessee.
